Arsenal winger Willian is close to leaving the club on a free transfer to Brazilian side Corinthians. The 33-year-old is not thought to be part of coach Mikel Arteta’s plans for the new season and will be allowed to leave the club before the close of the transfer window.
The Daily Mail report that the Brazilian will likely head back to his homeland to join Corinthians in the week ahead.
The Gunners are keen to offload Willian given his current contract has two more years to run and he earns a hefty £190,000 a week in salary.
According to the Mail, discussions between the two sides are thought to be at an advanced stage with all parties keen to agree a move.
Willian only signed for Arsenal last summer but his form was mixed, scoring just one goal in his 37 appearances for the club.
