Report: Arsenal agree Ben White deal

Reports from across the English media suggest that Arsenal have agreed terms with Brighton for the transfer of defender Ben White. The two clubs have been in talks for weeks now with the Gunners reportedly among a group of Premier League sides interested in the young centre-back.

Sky Sport, The Telegraph and The Athletic all report that Arsenal have now agreed terms with Brighton on a £50m move for White having had bids £40m and £47m rejected.

The 23-year-old is expected to take a medical when he returns from holiday on July 26, having been part of the England squad for EURO 2020.

The Athletic report that White ’emerged as manager Mikel Arteta’s primary target to operate as a right-sided centre-back and it is set to constitute a record outlay by Arsenal for a defender.’

The £50m fee will make the young defender Arsenal’s third most expensive signing of all time, following the £72m spent on Nicolas Pepe and the £57m spent on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
