Reports from Portuguese press suggest that Nuno Tavares has already completed a medical and could be presented as a new player next week.
Tavares was the subject of a late transfer bid from fellow Premier League side Brighton, as reported by A Bola (via Sport Witness), who were prepared to offer a similar deal as Arsenal to Benfica.
Despite their interest in the youngster, Tavares is more attracted to the idea of playing for Arsenal next season and has already spoken to Gunners manager Mikel Arteta.
Portuguese paper Record report that the 21-year-old has already undergone a medical and physical tests in Portugal, ahead of travelling to London today to complete his move.
A Bola suggest that barring any late changes, Tavares could be presented as an Arsenal player as early as Tuesday of next week having undergone a vigorous scouting process that included Arteta giving the final approval on his signing.
Arsenal and Benfica have reportedly agreed on a deal for €8m in transfer fees and up to further €2m in add-ons.
