Nketiah opens talks with Bayer Leverkusen

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is in talks with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen over a free transfer in the summer. The 22-year-old has rejected numerous renewal offers from The Gunners due to a lack of playing time.

Nketiah has scored five goals in the EFL Cup this season, including a hat-trick in Arsenal’s 5-1 rout of Sunderland. Despite his good cup run, the youngster has made just three league appearances, all of them from the bench.

Nketiah’s contract ends in June and repeated talks over a contract extension have failed. The Daily Mail now report that he is in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a summer transfer. With his contract expiring in June, the player is free to sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of a summer transfer.

Crystal Palace have been linked with a move while Everton and West Ham have both shown interest in signing him.

Nketiah scored six times in 29 appearances across all competitions in 2020-21 and has a total of 24 goals in 94 games since breaking into the first team.
