Mohamed Elneny is set to remain at Arsenal this season despite having held negotiations with Galatasaray. The Egyptian midfielder has played a limited role in recent seasons, primarily featuring from the bench and was expected to leave North London this summer.
Sky Sports initially reported that Arsenal were in talks with Turkish side Galatasaray over a transfer, given that Elneny has just a year left on his contract.
The Gunners spent the most in transfer fees during the summer and Sky suggest they were looking to recoup a small fee for the player, rather than see him leave for free next year.
Football London now report that Arsenal have rejected a formal offer from Galatasaray and would prefer to keep Elneny, given their limited cover in midfield.
The Egyptian international was substituted in Arsenal’s recent 4-0 friendly victory over Brentford but it was later revealed this was a precaution after Elneny suffereda minor muscular injury.
