Joe Willock is looking increasingly more likely to stay at Arsenal next season, despite strong interest from Newcastle United. The 21-year-old enjoyed a highly successful end to last season while on loan at the Magpies, scoring in all 7 of their final league games.
The Northern Echo report that Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has made Willock his number one target this summer, but he may struggle to agree a deal for the youngster.
According to the report, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is set to keep Willock next season and will use him for much of the pre-season before making a final decision on his future,
The situation has changed in recent week with Arteta initially inclined to let the youngster leave on loan, however its suggested he’s since had a change of heart.
Newcastle have been in contact with officials at Arsenal over either signing or loaning Willock and Arteta has been made aware of the clubs interest.
