Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock is set to rejoin Newcastle on loan for the new season with a deal thought to be imminent. The 21-year-old ended the 2020-21 season on a high at St James’ Park, scoring in seven consecutive games to help secure Premier League football for the Baggies while also equaling Alan Shearer’s long-standing record.
Willock had been expected to feature for Arsenal this season with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta suggesting that the youngster would remain in North London as he was ‘in his plans’ for the upcoming season.
The Telegraph report that Arsenal will allow Willock to join Newcastle on loan again but will offer him a new long-term contract before he departs to protect his value.
The deal isn’t finalised yet, however Newcastle are thought to be confident that they can bring the youngster back to the club before the new season begins.
