Arsenal target Guimares price tag revealed

Arsenal will need to spend significantly to sign Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Bruno Guimares in the January window. The 24-year-old is a longstanding target for the Gunners, dating back to last summer.

Guimares previously confirmed that Arsenal had contacted his agent to enquire about a move to North London. The Gunners are in the market for a new midfielder with both Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny at the AFCON.

Speaking on his ‘Here We Go‘ podcast, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano offered some insight on Guimares’ future:

“I’m told €45million (£38million) or nothing for Bruno Guimaraes. It would be a difficult deal in this window,” he said.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the club will be active in the January transfer window:

“We are in discussions [internally],” he said. We have talks every week about it, how we can improve the team, and what things can happen in the January transfer window that can affect our squad.

“As you know, we have certain players with a little bit of uncertainty in the summer so we have to plan what’s going to happen now and what’s going to happen in the summer.

“A lot has to be done, we know and we don’t expect big things to be happening, but we need to be very alert in the market to see if we can improve the team.

“We have to be prepared because things can happen and injuries can arise in this period of the season and you have to be prepared and planned.”
