Granit Xhaka suffers new injury

Reports from Switzerland suggest Granit Xhaka has avoided a cruciate ligament injury but will still be out of action for an extended period. The midfielder shared pictures of himself on Instagram in a knee brace having picked up the injury in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Spurs at the weekend.

Swiss Journalist Andreas Böni shared an update on Xhaka’s condition via Twitter, confirming that the 29-year-old will be out of action for at least 6 weeks:

“Granit Xhaka suffered a ruptured inner ligament in his right knee. He is going to be out for at least 6 to 8 weeks. Further examinations are pending – but a cruciate ligament tear can be ruled out.”
