Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is expected to complete a move to Italian side AS Roma in the coming weeks. The 28-year-old is currently on duty with the Swiss national side at the European Championships but has been strongly linked with a switch to Roma in recent weeks.
While the Serie A side’s first bid was reportedly rejected, talks have continued as new Giallorossi coach Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Xhaka to Rome ahead of the Portuguese tacticians first season with the capital based club.
Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that a deal for Xhaka is close as Roma want to ‘close deals for Rui Patricio and Xhaka’ first, before turning their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Serbian winger, Filip Kostić.
Xhaka has had a mixed season in London, playing 220 games and scoring 13 goals in his five seasons with the Gunners and famously falling out with the fans in 2019.
