Carabao Cup semi-final v Liverpool at risk

Arsenal’s Carabao Cup semi-final fixture on Thursday is at risk due to a Covid outbreak in the Liverpool camp. The Red’s have cancelled a training session today after manager Jurgen Klopp and three first-team players tested positive last week.

Goalkeeper Alisson, defender Joel Matip and striker Roberto Firmino also returned suspected positive tests. Klopp would have been absent for Thursday’s game along with Alisson, Matip and Firmino who are also expected to be ruled out.

The Daily Mail report that Liverpool’s training session on Tuesday, scheduled for 4pm, has been cancelled due to more positive Covid cases in the camp.

It’s also reported that Liverpool officials and the EFL have been in contact but there has not been a request from the Merseyside club to cancel the game, meaning it is still going ahead as things stand.
