Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimarães has confirmed that Arsenal made contact with his agent but no formal bid was made. The Gunners had been linked with the Brazilian youngster at the start of the summer with some reports suggesting that a deal was close to being completed.
Speaking to media outlet Globo, the player confirmed that there was in fact real interest in him from the Gunner, however no transfer bid was ever made:
Arsenal approached my agent, but there was no offer. My aim, and I made it clear to Juninho, is to win a title with Lyon.
The fans have not had one for a long time. We have the Coupe de France, the Europa League and the league.
It is difficult with the level that PSG are at, but anything can happen. My aim is to win a title here, but I have never hidden my desire to play in the Premier League.”
