Reports from the Italian and English press suggest that Arsenal are giving serious thought to signing Inter forward Lautaro Martinez.
The 23-year-old played a key role in helping the Nerazzurri secure their first Serie A title in over a decade but the club may be forced to make sales this summer.
The two clubs have been in talks over a potential move for Hector Bellerin to Milan and Arsenal have enquired about Lautaro’s availability.
The Athletic report that ‘Lautaro would be interested in a move to Arsenal if Inter want to sell him’ while Spurs have been mentioned as an option, should they sell Harry Kane.
Any Arsenal move for Martinez would be dependent on the sale of Alexandre Lacazette who had been touted as a potential swap in the deal, however Inter are thought to only want cash.
Martinez had previously agreed a new contract with Inter however the club would not sign off on the deal until they had concluded talks over financing.
A potential move to north London would see Lautaro increase his salary while his potential transfer fee is deemed a ‘reasonable price point’ by the Gunners.
The Athletic report that Inter have to ‘finish the window with a net transfer profit of around €80 million’ and are highly reluctant to part with star striker Romelu Lukaku.
Sources close to The Athletic suggest that it would be ‘a simple deal for Arsenal in terms of negotiating with his club, Inter just need an acceptable offer on the table for a deal to be done.’
