Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Japanese international defender Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna. The deal is already close to completion as the clubs have worked quickly to agree a deal ahead of the transfer deadline earlier today.
The Athletic initially reported the news that the Gunners were working on a deal for Tomiyasu for a reported £16m transfer fee plus bonuses.
With Hectory Bellerin poised to join Real Betis, Tomiyasu is being bought in to play at right-back but given his versatility, he can also feature at centre-back.
The Guardian report on similar lines, saying a deal has been agreed for the 22-year-old with the player expected to undergo a medical in Italy later today.
Sky Sports also report that a deal has been agreed between the sides and personal terms are not expected to be a problem between Arsenal and the player.
Tomiyasu has made 63 appearances for Bologna over two seasons, scoring three goals.
