Arsenal are poised to accept an offer worth up to £25m from Newcastle for the transfer of midfielder Joe Willock. The 21-year-old was fundamental in the Magpies relegation battle last season, scoring a vital 7 goals in the final 7 games of the season.
Newcastle boss Steve Bruce identified Willock as their ‘No.1’ target this summer with the club reported to have pushed for the youngster since the end of his loan spell.
Speaking after the 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, Arteta said the club would ‘explain’ the reasons for Willock’s absence from the match day squad.
Reports now suggest that Arsenal and Newcastle have agreed a deal worth up to £25m for Willock, however the player is yet to agree personal terms and schedule a medical with his potential new club.
