According to the Italian press, Arsenal have been linked with a move for RB Leipzig’s Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking to revamp his midfield this summer and while Corriere dello Sport have linked the club with a surprise move for ex-player Aaron Ramsey, other parts of the Italian press are suggesting the club will look elsewhere.
Gazzetta dello Sport report that Arsenal are looking at RB Leipzig’s 27-year-old midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, despite him having been linked with a move to north London rivals, Tottenham Hotpsur.
According to the Italian daily, Sabitzer is ‘in the sights of the Gunners as the club undergo a revolution of sorts this summer.
Gazzetta suggest that the Austrian international is considered the ideal age and has the kind of output Arsenal are looking for, having scored eight goals and provided four assists in 27 Bundesliga games last season.
Given his contract expires in June 2022, Gazzetta write that Sabitzer could be available for as little as €17m this summer as the German side fear losing him on a free next season.
