Reports from Spanish media suggest that Arsenal are the ‘first choice’ for Barcelona goalkeeper Neto this summer. The 31-year-old joined Barca following his strong displays at Valencia but has largely played second fiddle to Marc-André ter Stegen, spending much of his two seasons on the bench.
Mundo Deportivo now report that Neto has decided to leave the Blaugrana this summer, with the clubs permission, and the Gunners are among the sides interested in him.
Arsenal had previously made enquiries about him during the winter transfer window and are still interested in his availability to help bolster their ranks.
Mundo Deportivo suggest that Neto might add to the Gunners goalkeeping options, given his good footwork, allowing the side to play out from the back.
Both Everton and Serie A side Roma are rumoured to be interested in Neto, but Mundo suggest that Neto’s agent is ‘working right now with Arsenal as the main option’.
The Spanish paper also suggests that Arsenal are ‘insisting’ on taking the Brazilian on loan and that the Gunners are the player’s ‘first option’.
